Tees Valley businessman, Peter Bumstead, will be the first of up to 11 intrepid souls, who will jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane above Peterlee Skydive Academy this month to raise money for the Katrina hurricane victims of New Orleans.

Peter, who is the Master UK Franchisor for the novel international publication, Coffee News, and also publisher of the Tees Valley district edition, was inspired to organise the parachute jump to help fellow Coffee News distributors and advertisers in New Orleans.

He will be joined on the way down by his brother, Alan, who is starting a Coffee News franchise in Norfolk, son William who worked on the website and John Oakes, who has the Darlington franchise. Andrew Quince of Quince IT, a Coffee News advertiser & four Coffee News stockists - Jeff Longstaff & Rachael Bigley of 'Coffee@Elliotts' in Yarm and Leanda Newmarch, of 'Fryer Tucks' in Ingleby Barwick, Daniel Calvani of Big Mammas Sandwich Bar in Norton. Also joining in is Gary Rodwell, a fireman from Middlesbrough and student Jonathan Schofield, both Coffee News readers and patrons of Coffee News distributors - have also signed up for the jump.

He explained:-

"Ian Rosenvinge of Peterlee Skydive Academy has kindly donated a free parachute training course worth £200.This will be auctioned to add to the funds we raise through sponsorship."

Coffee News originated in Winnipeg, Canada in 1988 and is now franchised across hundreds of cities and towns in more than 45 countries. It takes newspapers back to their origins as entertaining, amusing and informative reading for customers of Lloyds Coffee House in London - although it is distributed through pubs, restaurants and small businesses as well as coffee shops. In Peter's area, it is 'News to Amuse' customers of more than 83 businesses.

The Coffee News Parachute Jump will take place on Sunday 25, September. Anyone wanting to join the jump team, enjoy an exhilarating experience and help to raise funds for a really good cause or just support the 'jumpers' with sponsorship, should contact Peter as soon as possible on 0787 068 5231.
