When ex-air force man Chris Hann and wife Paula moved their Dream Doors business into a showroom last August, business boomed. Having quadrupled their turnover they're now looking forward to further growth and development.

"Since moving into the showroom, business has really taken off. We're now looking to increase turnover, which means taking on more showroom staff and another sales person. We're then looking to expand into other locations within our territory and even taking on another franchise area. We're forecasting a quarter of a million pound turnover for this year.

"One of the most enjoyable aspects of the business is that you are driven by your customers and not by a boss. This is a dynamic environment to work in and no two days are ever the same."

"The day our first advert was published, we made our first appointment and sold our first kitchen re-face. This January we sold 15 re-faces for an average of £3,000 per kitchen, a turnover of £45,000 and our record month so far.

"95 per cent of our customer base is over 55 and/or retired and doesn't want the upheaval of a new kitchen. We pride ourselves on being able to re-face a kitchen so someone who has been in that kitchen many times, would think it was new. We initially ran the business from home, but quickly realised that customers liked the reassurance that premises gave them. When we opened our showroom we doubled our turnover - it made a noticeable difference.

"Dream Doors has fulfiled all their obligations as a franchisor and the business runs successfully if you follow the system. Troy Tappenden (Founder) has great enthusiasm for the business. We get a real buzz from running a Dream Doors franchise, being our own boss and completing a job to the delight of the customer. We have looked at other franchises with a view to expanding this business, but as yet haven't found any other franchise like Dream Doors that we would be as comfortable running."
