Recognising that looking for the right opportunity among the 1,000 plus brands in the franchise industry can be a daunting prospect, franchise consultancy FDS has launched FranMatch, a free advice and guidance service which can effect introductions to the brands of your choice. "With over 25 years of experience in advising prospective franchise buyers, FDS is uniquely placed to identify your needs, desires and interests, in order to match you with franchisors that we know will suit you," says FranMatch Consultant David Paulson.

"We only work with franchisors that are either members of the British Franchise Association or offer a genuine business format franchise, which we judge by researching our clients and learning their franchise model and systems to ensure we have a sound understanding of what they are offering."

FranMatch is a free service to prospective franchise buyers, so you can call the non-premium rate line as often as you like to discuss opportunities of interest. "We don't charge you a penny," confirms David. "We are retained by a range of different franchisors to promote their opportunities, with different investment levels. When you call FranMatch, we will learn about you, your career history and what you want to get out of franchising in order to properly match you with the opportunities we are presenting.

"What we won't do is give you the hard sell. Our role is to educate you in a pressure-free environment, and ensure that when we do put you forward to meet with the franchisor we know that you are suitable for that franchise and that you meet the franchisor's criteria. This makes you a stronger candidate in the eyes of the franchisor when you meet."

FranMatch provides easy access to a wide range of franchisors as part of your overall franchise industry research. "The companies we work with do not represent the entire franchise market, but if you are interested in another brand we can look at making an introduction on your behalf," says David. "When the time comes for you to meet with one of the brands we work with, we introduce you to the franchisor and make all arrangements for your meeting with them. We will have supplied you with all the background information you will need and in turn, we will have spoken to the franchisor on your behalf.

"A call to FranMatch won't necessarily represent the only call you need to make in your franchise research - what it does represent is the most valuable call you will make, allowing you to gain information on a number of serious franchise opportunities and in addition benefit from general advice and guidance."
