Quality of life means everything to me," affirms Professional Car Cleaning (PCC) franchisee Phill Francis. "Of course, money is important, but I am so much happier than I have been in years - and so relaxed too."
Spotting an advertisement for PCC as he flicked through a magazine at the doctor's surgery, Phill's interest was immediately caught. He has a life long love of cars and confesses that he has regularly spent hours enjoying cleaning and polishing his own car at weekends.
"I find cleaning cars really therapeutic and very satisfying," he says, "so as soon as I spotted the PCC opportunity I thought 'what a fantastic idea!' and contacted the company straight away."
Phill attended one of the company's free 'Discovery Days' to find out more about the PCC opportunity, and ended up signing on the dotted line the very next day. "I haven't looked back and my feet have barely touched the ground since I launched only a month ago," he states.
"The training is excellent, and so is the launch package. The franchisor helped me get some initial leads and everything has taken off from there."
After securing regular contracts to valet cars variously on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis, Phill declares that he's absolutely loving every minute. "Working outside after having been stuck behind a desk all these years is great," he reflects. "Last week the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the views all around me were stunning - I had to pinch myself to believe I was being paid for being there!"
Phill is amazed at how much work is flowing into his business. "Word of mouth is my strongest sales tool and the quality of the valet usually secures repeat business," he reports. "Just having my van parked outside a customer's premises generates plenty of enquiries - it looks so smart and professional that people have confidence that you can do a great job. I just give out my business card and people contact me to book a valet."
The work is clearly physical, but at 52 Phill sees that as an added bonus. Already he's lost a few pounds and reckons that he's getting fitter. In fact, he insists, he can't think of any downside. "I love working for myself - if I decide to work Saturdays or Sundays then it's my decision and I get paid for it, which is the opposite of my previous situation. I've done really well in my first trading month - I'm over budget - but I don't intend to rest on my laurels, for me this is only the beginning. I have a whole new life ahead of me, and it's looking great!"
