Robert received a week's intensive training at All Trades' head office in Blackburn, which laid the foundations for his new Edinburgh-based property repair franchise business.

"As I already had over 10 years' experience with property and repair work, my training was tailored for my needs, focusing more on insurance, technical aspects and customer care. This gave me the understanding and industry knowledge I needed to hit the ground running," says Robert. Robert launched his All Trades Network franchise in April. In just six months, he firmly established the business in his territory and embarked on an ambitious business development programme, which is already bearing fruit.

"We now have six excellent tradespeople working with us and we are very lucky to have such skilled and reliable partners. Providing high quality service is paramount to running a successful All Trades Network franchise. We're already building quite a name for ourselves."

Using All Trades Network's methods and IT tools, Robert has found managing his franchise to be surprisingly easy. Robert also credits his friendly and helpful Franchise Manager Eddie Mulqueen, for his rapid mastery of the business.

"Eddie is only a phone call away if I ever have a problem, and my emails are answered without delay. The support provided is excellent, the whole head office team is highly experienced and they are always more than happy to help."

Still several months from completing his first year, Robert has already begun to look beyond his first-year business plan. "My eyes are fixed on the £1 million turnover mark. I'm going to do it.

"I am building up my business slowly and steadily. For me, the main priority is to build up the All Trades' name and reputation and expand my customer base. It's going extremely well already.

"They said to just focus on following the systems and ensure that every job is done right and the rest would come... so far, so good!"

Already exceeding his initial financial forecasts, Robert is doing more than growing his new business: he's having fun. "I'm applying all I've learned, and all of the experience I already had, and it's just working. I'm thinking I'm going to add more specialised services and just knock the competition out of Edinburgh. Just watch me go."
