Potential to expand
Servicing a variety of national accounts with UK insurance companies, All Trades Network franchisees are team builders as well as business builders. Stuart Anderson reports
A white collar opportunity to build a business managing teams of tradesmen, the All Trades Network franchise opportunity was launched last year after two years of operation. The pilot operation, based in Lancashire, has turned over in excess of £3 million since its launch, and the company is now well positioned to build a national network with eight franchisees already up and running.
Leaving a senior management role with BT and a property development business behind to sign up as an All Trades Network franchisee last October, Andrew Lerer (pictured) is relishing the chance to do something for himself. 'I was looking to leave the corporate world and saw franchising as an opportunity to take on an established concept, rather than start from scratch,' he explains.
'I'd been researching the franchise opportunities when I came across All Trades Network in The Franchise Magazine earlier last year. It is a management franchise that offers a lot of potential to expand.'
Being a relatively new franchise offering, All Trades Network presented a chance for Andrew to get involved from the beginning. 'I saw an opportunity to grow with the business,' he says.
'However, I was also impressed with the strength of the business model and training facilities. After meeting the head office team in April 2005, I committed in June to the Essex and Hertfordshire territory and launched in October.'
Prior to launching, Andrew went through the complete initial training programme, which covered ATOMS (All Trades Operating Management Software). 'ATOMS allows the franchisee to completely track all jobs from start to finish,' Andrew reveals. 'With ATOMS we can manage the job more efficiently and effectively, from the initial survey and report, through the scheduling of the job with the policy holder and the insurance company, to ensuring we meet our Key Performance Indicators and maximise customer service.'
With the majority of his work coming through the national contracts won by All Trades Network head office, Andrew is concentrating on building his business. I'm heading toward the targets I've set myself and am seeing growth month-on-month,' he reports. 'At the end of year one I would like to be turning over £50,000 per month on quoted revenue, which would be about 20 jobs per month ranging in value from £300 to £5,000. I currently have a team of six employees, including a contracts manager, and am looking to grow that team to 15 to 20 people, as well as look at the possibility of expanding my franchise territory.'

All Trades Network Ltd is a dynamic business with an impressive track record of managing a complete building repair service on behalf of blue chip insurance companies and their policy-holders.
Whether it's a leak from a pipe or a major loss from a fire or storm, our franchisees make a difference to people's lives in swiftly diagnosing a problem and leading a specialist team of tradesmen to complete the work in hand. Well-handled claims can increase policy renewal rates and therefore provide repeat business to the franchisee.
We are now looking for our next phase of franchisees to satisfy the huge nationwide demand for All Trade's expertise.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a determined and enthusiastic individual. You don't have to be a high flier or have previous experience in the building trade. Comprehensive training for every aspect of the franchise is provided.
If you feel you can grasp the opportunity of running your own business and make a difference to a policy-holder's needs, this is the franchise for you.
