"All Trades Network really cares about its franchise owners"

Having worked in the construction and property industries around the world, John Turner found that All Trades Network has allowed him to use his wealth of experience to become his own boss.

John Turner had spent a number of years looking for the best franchise opportunity to match his wealth of experience in the construction, real estate and property industries in the UK and China, before discovering All Trades Network fitted the bill perfectly.

All Trades Network is a management franchise opportunity where its franchise owners provide property repair services to the insurance and property industry.

"I had spent a lot of time investigating the franchise sector and had looked at a number of companies before I found out about All Trades Network," explains John.

"I initially spoke to the company's founder Keith Roberts before visiting him at the Blackburn head office, where I was impressed by how professionally run it is. I also liked the company's vision and feel that by becoming an All Trades Network franchise owner I would be part of that."

John launched his All Trades Network Manchester franchise in June after taking part in the company's comprehensive training programme.

"I had one week of training at head office, where I learned about the background of the company, its terminology and how it works with insurance companies," he says. "I was also given lots of training on the All Trades Network's computer system ATOMS. This software is very detailed- everything is logged, which helps keep the company virtually paper - free.

During his induction training, John met many of the staff who provide All Trades Network's franchise owners with support on a daily basis.

"The support from head office cannot be faulted and a Franchise Manager visits me every fortnight so that you feel All Trades Network really cares about its franchise owners," reveals John. He adds that a potential All Trades Network franchise owner needs to have an interest in the construction/homes sector.

"Management expertise is also essential as much of your time is dealing with people ranging from the householder to the insurance companies," says John.

"In fact customer service is a very important part of the business. The policyholder/householder will often be stressed as their house will be in a state of disrepair and so they need to be reassured the work will be done professionally and swiftly. As such, I am in contact with my customers every day as I believe that should any issues arise it is always the best policy to get them solved immediately."

In addition to keeping the householders up to date with how the work is progressing, the insurance companies are also checking the quality of service and, therefore, the team John employs to carry out the work is key to his success.

"I am lucky that with my background I have trades people who I have known for a number of years and can trust to do the work to the highest standard. In effect they are your business partners and their work reflects on your reputation."

John also receives help at home too: "My wife Heather handles the paperwork which is a great help and this ensures my time is spent finding new work and looking after my existing customers." As part of the franchise package, All Trades Network provides new franchise owners with training to help them generate leads.

"That was very useful and since I started, I have been building up my territory so that I am always busy. I have been very impressed about how profitable All Trades Network has proven to be," adds John.
