It was with the assistance of the All Trades Network franchise team and his extensive industry knowledge that Michael Foster was able to launch his Leeds-based All Trades business with confidence.
Before starting his All Trades franchise in November 2010, Michael worked in a variety of property repair roles including Project Manager and Building Defect Surveyor. With over 20 years of industry experience, Michael decided that with his wealth of knowledge, ambition and skills, he would be able to successfully run his own property repair business.
“I knew that I wanted to join a franchised business because it gives you the freedom of being self-employed but you get the support of a franchise team and other franchise owners,” explains Michael. “It also gives you the opportunity to bounce ideas off each other and build your business quicker.
“A couple of franchises caught my eye but it was All Trades’ highly experienced support team and property professionals that impressed me most.”
Michael met All Trades Network’s Managing Director, Keith Roberts, to discuss the exciting business opportunity. “I instantly felt comfortable with Keith and how the business was run,” says Michael. “Not only did we discuss what the All Trades’ franchise package had to offer me, it was also a case of what I could offer All Trades. Keith agreed that with my industry experience and management skills, I would be perfect for the All Trades Network franchise.”

Michael received a week of intensive training at All Trades’ head office in Blackburn, where he learned about the day-to-day running of the business, marketing and how to use the bespoke administration software.
“I found the training week to be very helpful,” reveals Michael. “As I already understood the property repair industry, All Trades tailored my training to suit my experience and knowledge.
“The ongoing support I have received since launching my franchise has been brilliant,” enthuses Michael. “I am on the phone with the All Trades support team most days but they are always more than happy to help and I have regular meetings with the franchise team.”
Michael currently operates his All Trades business from home. As well as carrying out property repairs for private individuals and insurance companies, Michael can see new services such as the emergency 24/7 call out service, which provides both domestic and corporate customers with rapid response services from certified tradesmen attracting new clients. Now after only three months in the business, Michael has already begun the process of renting office premises and has appointed a Contracts Manager.
“I thoroughly enjoy my job and really like the people I work with,” beams Michael. “Since the very first day, I have had a steady flow of business and already have some loyal repeat customers.
“I aim to build my All Trades franchise into a substantial, profitable business that will allow me to use my managerial skills to the full.”
