Baguette Express is planning to increase to 80 outlets this year as part of its expansion programme. The Scottish sandwich shop chain currently has 48 locations in the UK and with its expansion plans is projected to increase its turnover by nearly 50 per cent to £15 million in 2009.

A substantial part of the increasing group turnover has been contributed by the company's presence in bigger shopping centres with a greater footfall. Billy Stenhouse, co-Founder of Baguette Express, said: 'It is clear that the brand is becoming as recognisable in the UK's high streets as some of the major players and there is considerable potential for further expansion.'

He added: 'Location is of vital importance to Baguette Express. The model is good, the offering is excellent and the franchisees are of the highest calibre. Picking a location, which guarantees high-volume is what makes it all work.'
