The idea of running his own business had been at the back of Anubhav Kathuria's mind for some years, but it was his wife's sweet tooth that led him to becoming a Baskin-Robbins franchise owner.

"My wife loves ice cream, but we didn't have a great choice where we lived," explains Anubhav. "We discovered a Baskin-Robbins store in Harrow, and would drive for over 30 minutes to get there - for an ice cream. When I was considering a number of franchise options, I realised I'd never drive for half an hour just to get a sandwich! There had to be something special about Baskin-Robbins!"
For ex-accountant Anubhav, part of the appeal of franchise ownership was the security of growing and developing a business under the guidance of a proven model with a world-leading brand. "I was giving up a good salary," he says, "so I needed something less risky than starting totally from scratch. Baskin-Robbins have a progressive, forward-thinking approach - and I was impressed by how much flexibility they offered me."
"I researched a number of different locations," Anubhav continues, "and Kingston ticked all the boxes, especially in terms of target customers. It's ideal and Baskin-Robbins gave me the freedom to pick the location best suited to me and my business plan."
Opening at the start of April, Anubhav's business has been a resounding success. The Baskin-Robbins UK Team attended the the Grand Opening, and Marketing Manager for the EMEA region Giorgio Benza judged it the best he had ever seen in Europe.
"Baskin-Robbins have been so supportive," concludes Anubhav. "They've helped with everything from initial training to shop fitting and marketing - things that would have taken months to organise on my own. I'm really thankful for their support."
