Belvoir has won the Best Brand Builder of the Year at the British Franchise Association (bfa) Franchisor of the Year 2011 Awards.

The judges recognised the major efforts that Belvoir and its local franchise owners had put into promoting the company’s name and reputation, including initiatives such as a distinctive redesign of Belvoir’s ‘To Let Boards’, the introduction of a Belvoir iPhone App and a redesign of branded vehicles. In summing up Belvoir’s success the bfa’s judges said: “Belvoir Lettings demonstrated that brand building has a fundamental role to play in a franchisor’s growth strategy and it can be delivered simply and effectively.”

Director General of the bfa, Brian Smart, added: “Our panel was presented with some of the best examples of innovation, brand development and franchise support from across the whole franchising spectrum. It is a privilege to recognise Belvoir as a truly outstanding example of how it should be done.”

The Brand Builder of the Year Award is the third major accolade that Belvoir has won this year. In June, Belvoir won Silver for Best Franchise at the 2011 Lettings Agency of the Year Awards, in association with The Sunday Times and The Times.

In May Belvoir won Best Marketing Campaign at the Franchise Marketing Association (FMA) Awards. Belvoir’s entry focused on its highly successful brand refresh, and fought off stiff industry competition, including that of some huge corporate businesses, to win the top award at The British & International Franchise Exhibition in London.

Dorian Gonsalves, Belvoir’s Managing Director, said: “These extraordinary achievements are a real tribute to the franchise support team at central office and all the 140 plus franchise owners in our network for the hard work and commitment they have put into transforming our brand over the past year.

“Despite a difficult economic climate, we took an early decision to invest further in brand Belvoir, employing a new Marketing Manager and additional franchise support staff. These awards are confirmation that our investment strategy was the right thing to do. We are not only reaping the benefits as a business – our records show that May was a fantastic month for Belvoir with a 16 per cent year-on-year increase in turnover, but we are also delighted that our strategy has been acknowledged by our peers.”
