Bluebird Care, one of the leading care franchises in the UK and Republic of Ireland, reports that 2010 has been a fantastic year in terms of business growth.

“All our targets for this year have been exceeded,” states Franchise Director Simon Dalziel. “We have seen significant growth not only in our franchise owners’ businesses but also in the numbers of new franchise owners joining the network.”

Bluebird Care now has in excess of 100 franchise territories throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland.

“We are not just about growing numbers of franchise owners,” continues Simon. “It is about bringing the right people into thenetwork with the right attributes to succeed. Our franchise owner selection process has always been rigorous and that is why the network is so successful.”

Franchise owner success was celebrated at the recent annual franchise conference.

“The challenge to us each year is to better the last conference,” says Managing Director Paul Tarsey, “and this year our conference, themed ‘Raise the Bar’, exceeded our franchise owners’ expectations.

“We had a full programme of interesting speakers, with the highlight being an excellent presentation by Paralympics silver medallist Mark Eccleston. Mark spoke about overcoming adversity and spoke about the high quality care he received after his accident.”

For the first time, there were regional award winners together with the main Franchise of the Year winner.

“The success of many of our franchise owners makes the task of deciding award winners more difficult each year,” adds Simon. “We are always keen to reward success and this year’s winners all achieved something special.”

The Franchise of the Year award went to Sue and John Milakovic of Bluebird Care (Mid Staffs) and Bluebird Care (Stafford).

Sue and her husband, John, have played a special role in the Bluebird Care success story as they were the company’s first franchise owners, opening an office in Cannock, West Midlands in late 2006. They opened their second office in Stafford earlier this year and have seen remarkable growth in record time.

Bluebird Care’s Managing Director, Paul Tarsey, says: “Bluebird Care has come a long way in four short years and Sue and John have been with us all the way.

“They are a credit to us and to make a success of their second office, in such short time, is truly phenomenal.”The company is now recognised as a major provider of care at home in the UK with a brand UK annual turnover of over £23 million and growing month on month.

“The advantage that franchise owners joining us now have is they are joining a known care brand,” explains Simon. “We are seeing new franchises start very quickly and we put this down to a number of factors. Not only are we very good at supporting our franchise owners through our large business development team, but also word of mouth about our services is proving to be very successful marketing.”

Paul concludes: “No previous experience of the care sector is required by franchise owners. We look for people who have a management background with good people skills, who also have an empathy with what we do and a determination to succeed.”
