When former Iver mobility campaigner Barbara Smith had a stroke at aged just 42, she wanted a home care provided that would offer her flexibility and a personal service. It was with Bluebird Care that she found these qualities and says she owes her independence to Bluebird Care worker Zara Barton (pictured above with Smith).

Smith, from Iver, says Barton has become ‘part of the family’ since she started caring for her in June and allows her to enjoy life, in the comfort of her own home. She was so impressed with Barton’s service that she nominated her for Bluebird Care South Bucks and Slough Carer of the Month Award.

Smith said: “At the end of the day, few things are as important to me as the level of care that I receive, and Zara and the others girls have become part of the family and mean so much, they are all so kind and care about my welfare.”

Barton commented on the nomination, she said: “Barbara is such a lovely lady – it is a joy to see her every day and to help her in any way that I can.”

Bluebird Care (Taplow) franchise owner, Ian Inglis said: “Zara has been a great carer for us from the start and is a worthy recipient of the award. She is responsible, caring and puts her customers’ welfare at the heart of everything she does. She has had a positive impact on her customers’ daily lives, which is fantastic and is representative of the level of care we endeavour to provide.”

Bluebird Care South Bucks and Slough, based in Taplow, has been trading since October 2009 and covers an area including Slough, Beaconsfield, Burnham, Denham, Dorney, Farnham Royal, Fulmer, Gerrards Cross, Hedgerley, Iver, Langley, Stoke, Poges, Taplow and Wexham.
