Tom Farrell, Bluebird Care, Warrington

I started my business, Red Line Recruitment, in 1998 supplying HGV drivers, packers, cleaners, etc to the transport sector on temporary contracts. Diversifying this already successful business really appealed to me. I was looking for a business that wasn't too different from what I was already doing. Bluebird Care is also about recruiting people and my initial impressions have been very favourable.

Bluebird Care are very professional, the directors are very knowledgeable about their business with long-term experience of the industry. I even like the name - it is very appropriate for the industry.

I have plenty of office space to accommodate the business but it will be run completely separately from Red Line Recruitment. A recent advert for an experienced manager to run Bluebird Care generated a really good response. People replying to the advert had also done their homework on the business and confirmed that it has a very strong backbone.

I'm three quarters through the set-up and am on schedule to launch Bluebird Care Warrington in January/February. I'm currently organising the launch programme - someone famous to cut the ribbon - and I have just completed the first part of my franchisee training, which I found to be excellent and is a major step towards opening my Bluebird Care office.

The potential for this business in my area is massive and I am aiming to turnover £200,000 in my first year and £500,000 by year three. My aims are to provide a good service to people in my area requiring care, to obviously make money, and to potentially grow the business into another franchise area.
