This year, the awards are divided into seven categories to recognise a wider range of the industry’s top performing franchise owners. Alongside the most prestigious award given out at the ceremony – ‘The bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year’ award – are the ‘Franchisee Customer Service’ award, the ‘Young Franchisee of the Year’ award, the ‘Female Franchisee of the Year’ award and the ‘Micro-business of the Year’ awards respectively.

In addition, business marketers’ obsession with splicing the word ‘Entrepeneur’ with a completely unrelated word extends to the franchise industry, with the ‘Olderpreneur Franchisee of the Year’ award which will recognise franchise owners aged 55 and older. Finally there will also be a separate award for business-to-business franchise owners to compete for, with the ‘B2B Franchisee of the Year’ award.

Brian Smart, bfa Director General, said: “The bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards provide the bfa with the perfect platform to celebrate the individuals making a difference and progressing in the industry. They celebrate the forward-thinking business practices carried out by the country’s most impressive franchisees. We urge franchisors to nominate their favourite franchisees so their successes can be celebrated at a national level.”

Cathryn Hayes, Head of Franchising at HSBC, added: “These awards celebrate franchisees who are not only performing exceptionally well, but are recognised for their outstanding attitudes by their peers and colleagues. HSBC is delighted to be supporting the Awards, now in their 25th year.”

All nominations must be submitted by 28 May before finalists are invited for interviews with the judging panel in July. The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony in Birmingham on 2 October 2014. Visit the bfa website for more information.
