"Business Doctors' franchise model is really clever"
Looking to swap life in the corporate sector to being his own boss, Neil Kendall found his skills matched those required to become a Business Doctors franchise owner.
Having worked in the corporate sector for a decade, Neil Kendall had been looking for a franchise that met his skills and experience before discovering that Business Doctors had the perfect prescription for what he wanted.
"Because of the work I've done in different fields I had a broad experience working for corporations ranging from RBS to small engineering firms, including solving all kinds of business problems," explains Neil.
"I had been wanting to go self-employed for a while and had initially looked at owning a franchise three years ago but there were none around that appealed to me. Then when I looked again in September last year, I saw Business Doctors and their model ticked all the boxes I was looking for."
Having been impressed with Business Doctors' one-to-one seminars, Neil decided to become franchise owner for the west Yorkshire area, which includes Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield.
"I have had very positive support ever since. The franchise model itself is really clever and effective and practical - of real benefit to small to medium size businesses," adds Neil.
Training provided for a new Business Doctors franchise is divided into two stages - the first sees the franchise owner given extensive training in strategic business planning, negotiating, sales and presentation skills; while the second concentrates on technical training in content management systems.
Neil says: "Business Doctors are currently supporting me with an in-depth launch phase, where I have been given plenty of help and access to effective PR, which has seen my new venture getting lots of publicity in the local press. It really is second to none."
Neil launched his Business Doctors business at two seminars in Bradford and Huddersfield this month and his vision is to build an advice service for small to medium sized businesses that is practical, down to earth and can help with any problems holding business owners back, from personal development or staff management to sales and marketing management.
"I aim to tap into the expertise of a well-developed resource of specialist business advisors in this region to offer my clients a complete service in the strategic planning process."
Neil says: "A Business Doctors franchise would suit someone who has had significant exposure to business problems, has a good ability to communicate and is empathic to people's needs and above all likes a challenge."
