Salford-based business networking franchise, Business for Breakfast, is targeting Australia for expansion.

The company, which was founded in 2001 by Mel and John Fisher, has already built a franchise network in the UK and has expanded into the Czech Republic. Mr Fisher said: “Our journey over the last 10 years has been an experience that we at Business for Breakfast have enjoyed immensely. We have successfully expanded during a time of recession and can only put the credit down to teamwork and a strong belief in the system.”

The Fishers’ long-term business partner, David Sandelands, who recently moved to Brisbane, initially thought of the idea of opening a Business for Breakfast location in Australia.

As a result, Business for Breakfast has now set up a company in Australia in partnership with Sandelands, backed by the government’s Passport to Export programme, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop export markets.

Sandelands will head operations in Brisbane, with the aim of rolling out the Business for Breakfast franchising concept across Australia. Commenting on Business for Breakfast’s global growth strategy, Mrs Fisher said: “Using the Business for Breakfast franchise system and business referral system, we believe that David will create the perfect profile in Australia.

“The business people, professionals, and Senior Executives we are privileged to work with have all, in one way or another, contributed and supported us, helping to make Business for Breakfast what it is today.”

Following Australia, Business for Breakfast plans to establish bases in Slovakia and Poland by the end of the year.
