Pamper Britain while building a profitable business

Beauty salon Cannelle has launched its franchise opportunity and seeks franchisees to operate salons nationwide

Britons spend more money on looking good than any other European country, with the average Brit spending £295 a year on their beauty products according to the European Health and Beauty Retailers report 2008. This coupled with the popularity of beauty make over TV shows such as 10 Years Younger and How to Look Good Naked is why now is an ideal time to invest in the beauty industry.

Following 10 years of successful trading, French style beauty salon Cannelle Beaute has launched its franchise opportunity and is on the look out for prospective franchisees with a keen interest in health and beauty and the desire and drive to build a business to join its expanding franchise network.

Founded by France Baudet, Cannelle was developed to bring the quality, style and individuality of French beauty therapy to the UK. Over the last decade, France has opened salons in Summerton, Henley and Oxford City Centre gym and now employs 14 members of staff. France's vision was to transform the beauty salon image by making it less of a luxury and more an integral part of a busy person's lifestyle. Cannelle offers customers a variety of treatments from the conventional waxing or manicure to facials, massages and newer, longer lasting treatments such as laser hair removal, skin rejuvenating microdermabrasion and Endermologie from CACI, which is the only anti-cellulite treatment to be approved by the FDA.

'As part of the franchise package, all Cannelle franchisees are put on a five-day intensive, residential training course at our head office based in Oxford,' explains France. 'Here, franchisees are taught the beauty salon layout, design and how to maintain and implement corporate standards and effective local marketing strategies. Other areas franchisees will be briefed on included monthly and seasonal promotions, client loyalty, product supply and all aspects of administration.

'Also included in the franchise package is a one week training course for the beauty therapists, promotional and stationery package, branded towels, bespoke internet system and website, a copy of the operations manual on loan and rights to trade under the Cannelle corporate identity.'

While in terms of support, head office visits the salons on a regular basis and is available to call at any point, which ensures the franchisees never feel isolated. Head office's other support services include PR and marketing, newsletter updates to promotional programmes to recognise and reward the best performing salons.

Franchise Development Services (FDS) Southern Franchise Consultants Gary Rigby and Gordon Patterson helped Cannelle franchise its business model. Gary comments: 'It has been a pleasure to provide our consultancy services to Cannelle in preparing the company to launch their franchise. Cannelle is a very respected brand in its areas of trading in Oxford and Henley-on-Thames. The beauty salons have developed a loyal client portfolio. They associate with trusted brands and are very professional in the services provided. Cannelle has an attractive franchise offering that provides the franchisee with everything they need to ensure a good launch of the business. In the 'credit crunch' era it is refreshing to see a business showing double-digit percentage growth this year.'
