Caremark leads the way with new home care service in Gozo

Caremark (Malta) has recently launched its service on the Maltese island of Gozo, building on its service launched in San Gwann, Malta at the end of 2012.

Earlier in the month Mr Kenneth De Martino, Chairman of KDM Group and one of the parties driving this new venture, expanded the services of Caremark (Malta) to residents of the Maltese island of Gozo. The new service offers individuals quality care in their own homes enabling them to continue living safely and independently rather than having to consider the option of residential care.

A launch event to mark the opening of the new office was hosted by Dr Anton Refalo, Minister for Gozo. Amongst the prestigious guests attending the day was Managing Director for Caremark Limited, Anne O'Rourke and Caremark International Manager Phil Mason.

Dr Refalo’s address to guests highlighted three advantages from the new home care service in Gozo:

  • The new service will contribute to enhancing the standard of care on the island
  • It demonstrates the UK’s belief in Gozo’s potential as a business location
  • The new service will boost tourism

Also in attendance was Dr Justyne Caruana, Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing.

Dr Caruana commented: "As Government is strongly promoting the concept of active ageing, it is imperative that our elders remain in the community as long as possible and thus also reduce the demand on residential services, which is a major challenge in the country."

The collaboration between Caremark International and Maltese business professionals is the first of its kind to come to the country. The high quality home care service offered by Caremark in San Gwann already enables vulnerable individuals to have access to personalized care, support and companionship and remain within their own communities and the extension of this service to Gozo is expected to be equally as welcome.
