International shipping franchise, CargoCall, welcomed another addition to their rapidly growing network earlier this year, as new CargoCall Southwest Managing Director, Alan Seymour, invested in the franchise to cover Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset and Devon.

Alan Seymour had spent 24 years in the army, where he learned transferable skills, including logistics management, which he plans to make use of in his new role.

He said: “I spotted a vibrancy in the market here; there’s huge potential for businesses in the south west to increase their exports. My skill is finding the right means of transport (road, rail, sea or air) at the right price, for a whole range of products”. In the middle of starting up his business, Alan took time out to raise money for local children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent and had his hair shaved off entirely.

He told the Exeter Express and Echo: “I did think about wearing one of the charity’s comedy wigs for the day, but decided that I could raise a lot more money by having my head shaved – in full public view in the middle of Bucky Doo Square in my home town of Bridport.”
