The owners, Richardo and Christine Ferreyra, launched the recycling scheme for primary schools last year and Airyhall Primary is the first to receive new school equipment through the recycling scheme in the area.

Christine said: 'Everyone at Airyhall Primary School has been enthusiastic about collecting the cartridges for recycling. We are regularly called to empty the special bin and it is great that it is the first school to earn enough points to exchange for school equipment. We are delighted to be able to deliver the printer to the school and are sure it will be put to great use.'

Staff and pupils collected used printer cartridges in a special bin placed in the school. Head teacher of Airyhall Primary School Anne Healey commented: 'As an ECO school we are committed to caring for the environment and recycling is a big part of that. The scheme has been an ideal way to encourage everyone to do a little bit more for the environment. It is an added bonus that the school has earned new equipment at the same time.'

Cartridge World was launched in Australia in 1988 and now has more than 270 UK stores and over 1,600 franchises in 63 countries worldwide.
