Pre-owned goods retail franchise, Cash Converters, has celebrated the opening of its 60th corporate store, which is located in Gloucester. This opening takes the total number of Cash Converters across the UK to 221, including franchise owned stores.

As part of the celebrations, the corporate management team and staff from across the 60 stores toasted the success of 2011/12 at the annual corporate conference held at the New Park Inn hotel in Manchester and planned ahead for the next financial year.

The gala dinner recognised the hard work and dedication of Cash Converters’ staff and awards were issued to both individuals and stores that had excelled and delivered excellent results month after month.

David Patrick, Chief Executive of Cash Converters, places a huge importance on the people behind the international brand. Patrick said: “The conference recognises the dedication and hard work put in by all our staff across the business. Each year we continue to grow, thrive and build on the number of stores here in the UK. With a committed and motivated workforce at the heart of the business, I hope that we are able to continue on this path of success.”

Cash Converters is an internationally recognised brand and, in addition to its UK outlets, it has stores located worldwide. Patrick added: “Cash Converters now operates in 22 countries and has almost 700 stores globally. Here in the UK we have seen a noticeable acceleration in growth during recent years and put this down to our investment in our fresh looking stores, the modern retailing practices, our professional management techniques and high ethical standards. This continued accomplishment really is testament to the success of the brand building work that we have done and reflects positively the popularity and wide range of services from financial services, pawnbroking and Laybys, to Buybacks that we provide.”

The annual corporate awards are a way of the company recognising both stores and individuals who have gone above and beyond to ensure that the Cash Converters brand goes from strength to strength.

Among the winners were Scarborough as Store of the Year, Terry Topham from the Burton store won the Rising Star award, and Duncan Brewer from the Barnsley store won the Manger of the Year award.

Patrick said: “As we expand our network of stores we are recruiting new, ambitious people across the UK. This is a very exciting time to be involved with the company, we have a motivated company ethos with a strong global vision.”
