Family success with Cash Generator

When brothers Andy and Matt Smith along with their sister Jayne Broadley launched their Cash Generator franchise they turned it into an entirely family-run business

After months of hard work, determination and drive, siblings Andy and Matt Smith and Jayne Broadley have turned their Cash Generator franchise into a successful family-run business.

In addition to the franchise being owned by the two brothers and sister, Andy's daughter and Jayne's two sons also work in the Cash Generator store. Keeping it in the family on a part-time level too is Andy's son Tom, second daughter Danielle and step-son Lewis. "They say that families should not work together but we don't find it a problem at all," Andy explains.

"I had no hesitation about starting a business with my brother and sister and am exceptionally proud of how well we do actually work together. In fact, working with family can have its perks - they are easier to manage and the team always goes the extra mile, which shows in the results."

Previously a taxi driver, Andy was keen to start up his own company and, with Jayne's retail experience, they believed retail was the right route. After attending a franchise exhibition to investigate various franchise options, Andy was attracted to Cash Generator's business model as the concept allowed him to become his own boss but with the guidance and backing of a nationally recognised retail chain.

Cash Generator is a buy, sell and loan retail franchise that stocks both pre-owned and new products. All Cash Generator franchise owners are provided with thorough training and ongoing support as part of their franchise package to ensure they have all the knowledge and skills needed to run a successful store.

As the head of the family, Andy takes the role of manager and assumes responsibility for the smooth running of the business.

"Cash Generator struck a cord with us all, as it offers a multi-income stream of both retail and financial services and was a viable franchise option that we could each associate ourselves with," Andy continues.

"The level of support we have received has been superb, with Cash Generator always on hand to offer advice or guidance, the kind of reassurance you would turn to your own family for."

Enjoying a successful start to franchising, the Smith family plan to open their second store this year, and eventually aim to have a portfolio of stores, so that each family member owns their own Cash Generator store.
