Cash Generator has pledged to raise £100,000 for a national children's charity this year. The buy, sell and loan store franchise has entered into a year-long partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children and young people who are living with life-threatening illnesses.

In 2009 around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. In each of the last two years, the number of children being referred to Make-A-Wish has increased by more than 20 per cent and they are expecting this upward trend to continue.

Julian Urry, Cash Generator's Managing Director, says: 'Make-A-Wish is a most deserving cause and we are absolutely delighted to be working with and supporting the charity throughout 2009.

'It is a landmark year for Cash Generator as we open our 100th store and we wanted to work towards giving something back to a most deserving cause.

'We are really looking forward to raising lots of money in the year ahead so that we can help the charity grant more wishes to more children, giving those in need of a magical day to remember and their families memories to cherish for a lifetime.'

Neil Jones, Chief Executive of Make-A-Wish, comments: 'We are honoured that Cash Generator has selected Make-A-Wish as its first ever adopted charity. We very much look forward to working closely with Cash Generator over the next 12 months.

'Make-A-Wish commissioned research in 2006 which revealed that at any one time there are up to 20,000 children in the UK living with life-threatening illness. There are few signs of this number declining in any significant way and therefore our aim is to grant 1,000 wishes every year to ensure that every child has the opportunity of experiencing the magic of a wish. With the support and generosity of Cash Generator we hope to grant and fund a record amount of wishes in 2009.'
