Brothers generate success with Hastings store

In October 2009, brothers Andy and Paul Tolhurst opened their first Cash Generator store in Hastings. One year on and the duo are ahead of target and already looking to open another two stores.

After working in the financial sector in London for two decades, Andy Tolhurst wanted to be his own boss and his brother Paul, who worked in retail for more than 20 years, wanted to open his own store.

While visiting the British and International Franchise Show, in London, the brothers were immediately attracted to Cash Generator as it was an opportunity that could combine both of their extensive skills.

Andy explains: "I have always thought owning a franchise was the best way of starting your own business. After visiting the Cash Generator stand, I carried out some further research and went to the Bolton head office for an open day." Andy and Paul wasted no time and invested in Cash Generator. After completing the comprehensive eight-week CIPD training course they opened their first store in Hastings.

A year on and the pair are still enjoying running their store. Andy says: "Our Cash Generator journey has been exciting and exhilarating. We have achieved a lot very quickly and are positive about our future with Cash Generator.

"The biggest benefit of opening the franchise has definitely been becoming my own boss. It gives me the freedom to make decisions by myself without having to report to committees. The transition has been relatively easy and where any problems have arisen, Cash Generator has always been on hand to help."

With ambitious plans for the future, the Hastings store is just the start for the brothers. Andy concludes:

"We have had a successful first year with our first store and this is the start of what we hope will be a prosperous future with Cash Generator. We already have plans to open our second store next year, with a third store to follow."
