Joining CeX has improved Serge’s life

Former logistics contractor, Serge Singh, was looking for a business opportunity that would offer him job satisfaction, financial security and control over his future. After researching a variety of franchise opportunities, it was second-hand entertainment franchise, CeX, that grabbed his attention.

“Becoming a CeX franchise owner has dramatically improved my life,” enthuses Serge. “If you work hard and follow the CeX business model you can make money. As your own boss you have the control, as there is no middle Manager above you.”

The CeX business model allows customers to buy, sell and exchange a focused yet complementary range of products including mobile phones, video games, DVDs, computers, digital electronics and CDs. Uniquely, all goods are second-hand, tested in store and sold with a 12-month warranty.

To prepare Serge for the launch of his Mansfield-based store, he attended CeX’s comprehensive 12-week training programme that covered all aspects of the business.

“CeX ensure you have substantial in-store training backed up by specialised training at the Training Centre in Coventry,” explains Serge.

The CeX franchise package includes an intensive training course, in-store training, expert advice on stock, pricing, loss prevention and marketing, ongoing procedure updates, access to its bespoke EPOS system and dedicated ongoing support from head office.

Due to the valuable assistance of the CeX franchise team, Serge found the set-up and launch of his store stress free and straightforward, with only a few minor obstacles along the way.

“The CeX team was fantastic, they did most of the groundwork for me,” reveals Serge. “They helped me find a suitable location, plan the store fit, recruit staff and launch my store. The most difficult thing was the delays caused by the council due to planning permission. This delay was annoying but there was no way round it.”

It was CeX’s unique buy, sell or exchange concept that initially attracted Serge to the entertainment franchise. With business running smoothly and exceeding his expectations, Serge hasn’t looked back since launching his store and insists he would do it all again.

“Yes I would, because the power is in your hands and also with the recession, a store that buys goods off people will do well. It’s the ideal store for a recession,” he says.

With only a few months of trading behind him, Serge is already planning to expand his business portfolio further.“Once I have got my Mansfield store operating to perfect standards, I aim to acquire a second store, hopefully by the end of this year,” he adds.
