“The Support Has Been Excellent”

When Kevin Harrington was made redundant from his previous role, he looked at a number of opportunities for his next professional challenge. Gareth Samuel investigates why electronics exchange franchise, CeX, was any easy choice for Kevin and how his business continues to thrive in the heart of Ireland’s second city, Cork.

Kevin knew that after being made redundant, he wanted to do something that would give him a sense of professional adventure and began looking at franchising as a career path. “I felt I had the business skills (for franchising) and I was trying to complement those skills with an established brand, which would work in Cork City,” He explains. “The support of the franchise system was important to me as I felt I would benefit greatly from a franchisor’s experience and get a faster return on my investment.”

Kevin knew that in order to be successful in his location, he wanted a business with an established reputation operating in a growing market. When he discovered Complete entertainment Exchange (CeX), through the Irish Franchise Website, he knew this was the business with which he could make his fortune. “The ability of the individuals to deliver on the promises made, the strong brand image and professional people I could work with,” answers Kevin, when asked what appealed to him most about the electronics and gadgets franchise.

CeX’s proven structure of training and support has allowed many franchise owners to develop hugely successful businesses around the UK, Ireland and Spain. Kevin received his full in-branch training in stores in Newry and Derry in Ireland and was tasked with the completion of competency packs ensuring he would be ready to begin trading as soon as his training was completed. He adds: “I was also impressed with people I met on a visit to the CeX Support Centre. I even participated in two store builds.” Thorough training is something CeX investors can be sure they will receive thanks to the experience and initiative of the central franchise team. When asked how he would assess his training, Kevin’s response is unreservedly flattering:

“Excellent, could not fault it. All CeX staff were very accommodating and helpful.”

To date, Kevin has been able to live out his dream of owning his own profitable business through the dedicated help and support of CeX. He comments: “Support at every level, from initial training to the excellent and on-going support I have received from my Franchise Manager to the store build support, has been excellent.” His projected turnover is already strong but he hastens to add that this is very much his business in its infancy. “I feel CeX has fulfilled its obligations in every way,” explains Kevin, “It is more than I expected, better than I imagined. I am proud to fly the CeX flag in Cork. It will allow me to have an excellent work/home balance.”
