Chemex's Highland Fling
Successful hygiene product distribution franchise, Chemex, has enjoyed growth across its expansive network as franchise owners continue to benefit from a solid business model serving a strong customer base. Gareth Samuel investigates how and why one new franchise owner, Gary Gall of Aberdeenshire, is off to a flying start in his new role as Chemex’s latest franchise owner.
For the first time in the franchise’s 30-year history, Chemex has launched a location in the Scottish Highlands, further extending the reach of its unique product offering. The latest owner, Gary Gall is dancing with delight, having already acquired a wide range of customers who have welcomed his services.
“Having a more remote location has actually been a benefit,” explains Gary. “Customers have had very little in the way of training, support and problem resolution with more traditional janitorial suppliers.” The Scottish Highlands are famously remote, which has enabled demand for Gary’s to-door distribution services to soar. Chemex franchise owners deliver a wide range of cleaning products from a fully liveried van. The franchise is completely scalable too, allowing in time, franchise owners to adopt a purely management role through the coordination of drivers and distributors.
For Gary, Chemex ticked all the boxes and he has truly hit the ground running. Chemex Sales Manager, Andy Staveley, said: “I was shocked to see the size of the opportunity in Gary’s territory. Even the larger prospects in Aberdeen have never had this level of service before and, with Gary’s use of the Chemex Hygiene Control Programme, Technical Manual and infield sales tools, customers can expect a fantastic level of quality support and service.”
The Chemex team provides full training and ongoing support to franchise owners, so that each member of the network is ready to operate a successful business as soon as their training is complete. Chemex is a business-to-business franchise offering purely mandatory services, as every business will require cleaning products of some description. It is this necessity that has enabled the franchise to be so successful for more than 25 years.
Chemex Managing Director, Michael Graham, adds: “Gary has taken the Chemex ethos to heart, making sure the customer’s needs are addressed first and foremost. The Aberdeenshire territory has fantastic growth opportunities and initial support from the Chemex sales team has created a healthy and exciting pipeline for Gary to be following.”
Gary clearly identified the opportunity in a business with a successful history behind it and a thriving future in front. Whether the UK remains in the grip of recessionary forces or not, Chemex will continue to supply the necessities businesses need through its franchise network.
