Gloucester tri-athlete, Gary Holland, has invested £40,000 into the international cleaning and hygiene franchise, Chemex.

Holland, who has competed in some of the UK's toughest endurance triathlons, believes that his ambition and competitive streak will help him to achieve professional success, he said: "Once you commit to a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a full marathon, you need stamina and a competitive edge to get you over the finish line. When I first started out 16 years ago I could barley swim but I like a challenge. Now I have set myself a target for the business, I have invested £40,000 and I will do everything I can to achieve success."

The franchise will provide consultancy, training and hygiene solutions to businesses in Cheltenham and Gloucester preventing them from falling foul of strict health, safety and hygiene rules, Holland said: "I want to help local clubs, pubs, restaurants, hotels and care homes to negotiate the ever-changing requirements that are part of food hygiene."

With 30 years of sales experience, 13 of which have been with the John Lewis Partnership, Holland posses some of the key qualities needed to make a success of a Chemex franchise.

"By giving customers practical advice on problem areas in the kitchen and serving areas, I can help give them peace of mind and take the headache out of the compliance procedures so that they can concentrate on running their business and looking after their customers," said Holland.

With an initial investment of £24,500, franchise owners receive a two week induction course at head office, 12 weeks rapid establishment in-field training schedule, a comprehensive support package, launch campaign and field and head office support.
