Top award for ChipsAway franchise owner
High-flying franchise owner Paul Fabian has scooped the top title of Franchisee of the Year at the first ever National Conference and Awards Dinner held by ChipsAway.
Former RAF engineer Paul Fabian is in his 12th year as a ChipsAway franchise owner and has consistently been one of the network’s top performers. He has not only built a highly successful business but also acts as a valuable sounding board for the management team, as well as being an ever-reliable source of support and advice to fellow franchise owners.
Paul decided he wanted to work for himself when he left the RAF more than a decade ago and set about looking for a practical, hands-on business opportunity with the potential to earn big money and retire early. Having researched various opportunities, he joined ChipsAway and launched a mobile ‘man and a van’ operation, quickly building a loyal customer base and a reputation for outstanding customer service.
Just two years later, unable to cope with his rocketing workload, Paul decided to open a ChipsAway CarCare Centre (fixed-base workshop) and took on an employee to enable him to continue to offer mobile services.
Today, Paul has two thriving CarCare Centres on adjacent territories and a mobile workshop. He currently has six employees and his team is busier than ever, repairing an average of 16 cars a day – recession notwithstanding.
“Last year was my busiest yet and I’m on track to achieve an increase in turnover again this year,” he confirms.
Although he describes his former income from the RAF as “a decent salary”, he says there is simply no comparison with current earnings. “I earn massively more than I ever could have done with the RAF and my ChipsAway business just keeps going from strength to strength.
“I always believed that I would be this successful,” he confirms. “I could see the potential of the franchise from the outset. I visualised that from initially being a one man operator, I would eventually develop my business into a management franchise and make a lot of money – and that’s exactly what I’m doing!
“ChipsAway is a great franchise,” he concludes. “If you’re prepared to work hard and promote your business, you really can achieve amazing results.”
ChipsAway is the UK’s leading automotive paintwork repair franchise with around 350 specialists in operation nationwide, as well as a network of Master Franchisors overseas.
Based on unique technology, the ChipsAway system continues to dominate in the ‘on-the-spot’ repairs sector, removing scratches, bumper scuffs and kerbed alloy wheels on a same day basis, and usually at a fraction of the price of traditional body shop repair methods. Franchise owners operate from professionally liveried ChipsAway vehicles, customised into fully equipped mobile workshops, with the opportunity to expand rapidly into a major management franchise with multiple vehicles, territories and CarCare Centres.
With over 34 million vehicles on the road and up to 17 million minor damage repair opportunities every year, ChipsAway estimates that currently it serves only three per cent of its potential marketplace.
