Managing Director Mike Holloway kick-started this year's presentations with his talk on 'Stealth Marketing' and how to use customer feedback forms to identify customer drivers.
Steve Jarvis, Director of Quinata software developers, provided an update on developments to the COBBA software, which includes improved efficiency and information inputting. He also explained how the software could be used as a marketing tool, for invoicing, and for personalising letters.
Next to take the podium was Ian Dow, a representative from Streamline. He introduced franchisees to a new debit/credit card system: 'We have trialled the system in Reading and it works very well. I believe that just having the debit/credit symbols on your stationery would give tremendous credibility to each business and give customers another payment choice.' Web page designer Peter Seymour launched the new-look Cookerburra web page and highlighted developments made to the secure franchisee section of the site. He suggested: 'The biggest development I feel is the area where you can input web links to other complementary businesses such as cleaning firms.'
'Creating Raving Fans' was the title of Marketing Consultant Steve Mills' presentation. 'Steve is always an inspiration when he talks,' Mike praised. 'He neatly summed up the Cookerburra philosophy: 'if you always do what you've always done in the past, you will only get what you have got'. His talk was excellent and inspired the conference in moving forward. This is the second time I have heard his presentation and both times I have learned something new.
'Ian Watt, Edinburgh franchisee, concluded the presentations with an excellent talk on how he markets his business through awareness days incorporating: developing a database of follow-up leads, enhancing customer awareness, distributing leaflets,making appointments and above all having fun.'
