EDINBURGH franchisees Ian and Sue Watt were awarded the Cookerburra 'Franchisee of the Year' award for the third consecutive year at the annual franchisee conference held recently at the Renaissance Hotel in Reading.

By following the tried and tested franchise format Ian and Sue have in three years grown the business into a three-van operation confirming their initial impression that the market in Edinburgh was strong enough to support a multi-van operation.

'We don't regret joining Cookerburra and we're ultimately aiming for five vans,' Ian insists. 'The franchise system is one of the best out there and the support has been first class.'

The 'Best Ancillary Sales Award' was presented to David and Janine Taylor from Glasgow in recognition of the percentage of additional sales made, such as barbeque, microwave and canopy cleaning.

David and Jeanette Cornish and Jeanette's son Neil Cox received the 'New Franchisee of the Year Award'. Since its high profile launch in July 2004, the Cheltenham business has grown steadily with a second van on the road within eight months. 'We now have plans to take on even more work throughout Gloucester,' says David.

The awards presentation formed part of the 2005 Cookerburra conference alongside informative presentations, dinner and disco. Speakers at this year's event included Managing Director Mike Holloway, Quinata software developers Director Steve Jarvis, Streamline representative Ian Dow, Webpage Designer Peter Seymour, Marketing Consultant Steve Mills and Ian Watt.
