Drain Doctor offer water treatment service

Drain Doctor Plumbing has strengthened the business of its franchisees by extending the range of services they are able to offer. The company is rolling out a full water treatment plant service, in which Drain Doctor will supply wastewater treatment plants from Aberdeen-based Balmoral Tanks, a leading single source designer of sewage treatment plants and rainwater harvesting systems.

Wastewater treatment plants are systems that allow households and businesses that cannot connect to the mains sewage system to discharge wastewater directly into a moving watercourse. The plants treat wastewater to a standard that complies with Environment Agency regulations.

They are particularly relevant to homes and businesses in isolated and rural areas where there may be no sewage mains connections or where the costs of connecting to the mains sewage system are prohibitive.

In addition to its existing plumbing and drainage services, Drain Doctor will now provide a complete wastewater treatment plant installation service that includes site surveys, obtaining the necessary Environment Agency consents, planning consultations and building and inspection work.

The wastewater systems offered by Drain Doctor use differing processes that collect, and treat household waste. The wastewater is treated until it is suitable to be discharged as effluent into a watercourse.

In order to be able to construct a water treatment plant and discharge waste into surface water the householder or business must obtain consent from the Environment Agency, a process that involves a lot of form filling and consultation. Drain Doctor will liaise with the agency to manage this process for its customers.
