Why are Dream Doors franchise owners selling so many kitchen facelifts?

  • Dream Doors kitchen makeovers are at least half the price.
Sometimes they can even cost as little as a third of the price charged by major retail brands.
  • 80% of Dream Doors’ customers are over 60 years of age.
And because they have retired they are not worried about their jobs, redundancies or wage cuts.
  • The over 60s have often paid off their mortgage.
As a result, many have more disposable income than other age groups in society.
  • Losing interest in the banks.
The only way the recession has affected the over 60s is they are now getting very low interest on their savings in the bank.

And because of all of these reasons, customers are happy to spend some of their savings on improving their homes.

Can you see yourself running a retail franchise with the brand leader in the kitchen facelift sector? As a sales and management franchise, you don’t need any previous kitchen industry experience. If you are hard working, determined, resilient and professional – with liquid capital of at least £30,000 – we would love to hear from you today.

“We have two showrooms, and in 2010 were the first franchise owners to achieve annual sales of £1million.” Sales of £1,000,000+ in 2010

After making the shortlist in last year’s bfa Franchisee of the Year Awards, the Stewarts won first place in Dream Doors’ own annual awards. “Getting to the finals of the bfa awards was a real achievement,” says Andy. “There are more than 37,000 franchise owners in the UK, so to be considered among the best is a real honour. But our year finished on a real high by winning first prize in the Dream Doors’ awards for our sales from Dorchester. And by adding the sales from our Taunton showroom, we then went on to hit a combined £1million by the end of December.”

“I trebled sales after taking over an existing Dream Doors business – and I didn’t change a thing!” Sales of £56,000 in August 2010

In just two months, Darren Senior proved that dedication and customer service are key to a successful business. He says: “When I took on my Exeter-based franchise I didn’t make any major changes. I kept the same advertising in place and turned over £100,000 in the first two months – more than the previous owner had made in six months. I think the difference in results has been down to handling the leads reliably and professionally. I had 14 appointments in my first month with nine sales, totalling £44,000. I want to make £1million next year and at the rate I’m going, I’ll hit my target.”

“We are so far ahead in our business plan that we are already interviewing for more staff.” Sales of £107,000 in September 2010

Since opening their showroom in March 2009, orders have continued to flood in for the Hurleys. And with just short of £600,000 of kitchen facelifts sold in their first year, they have already smashed their target set for year five! Mike says: “We are so far ahead in our business plan that we are already interviewing for more staff. I need time to focus on appointments as we’re getting so many enquiries.” He adds: “We had no experience in kitchens before doing this. Our Franchise Manager is great, and the support we get from Dream Doors far outstrips what is contractually agreed.”

“We’ve just moved to an even bigger showroom, and opened up on the high street.” Sales of £66,000 in October 2010

Chris and Paula hold the all time monthly turnover record with a staggering £136,000 in April 2008. In 2009, they managed two further record months with £91,237 in February and £111,408 in November. With £550,000 of kitchen facelifts sold in 2009 from their stunning showroom just outside Lincoln, they won Dream Doors’ ‘Franchisee of the Year’ award for that year – and were narrowly beaten in 2010 by the Stewarts. Chris says: “It was great to win the award last year and our sales in November clinched first prize. Since then we’ve ramped up business even more and have opened a flagship showroom on the high street.”
