Take a bold step to success

With interest in achieving a healthier and fitter lifestyle continuing unchecked, énergie Group has launched a personal fitness-focused franchise designed to create a serious business opportunity

Following Britain's success in the Olympics and a 36 per cent rise in sales of sports and fitness equipment, revolutionary personal fitness franchise énergie Personal Fitness is on the look out for franchisees to help turn its vision of a nationwide network into a reality.

Established in 2007 by the énergie Group, énergie Personal Fitness is looking for prospective franchisees who are either personal trainers looking to take their career to the next level by running their own personal fitness studio or management professionals looking to take advantage of the personal fitness studio market. Keen to steer clear of the traditional, costly image of personal training, énergie Personal Fitness has a developed a business model that generates revenue from a number of income streams.

CEO of énergie Personal Fitness Darran Morford explains: 'We operate programmes that target four areas: an active physical programme, nutritional advice, education in how the programme achieves success and measurements of progress. By offering more than just an hourly personal training service we can transform our customers' lives and guarantee them results.

'énergie Personal Fitness is the first franchise launched in the UK specifically opening professional personal training studios. Most personal trainers have a lack of business knowledge and simply operate by being paid for their time and effort. énergie Personal Fitness is a professional business, which makes the leap from one-man band to thriving business.

'We at énergie Personal Fitness have a clear mission to 'Empower People to Transform Their Lives'. This is not only for the mass market of people who want to get fit, healthy and sustain a better future but also for Personal Trainers who have always wanted to run their own business but for one reason or another have not been able to take that bold step to success.' One franchisee that decided to take the plunge and invest in the énergie Personal Fitness franchise opportunity was Imran Ilahi.

A former freelance personal trainer, Imran was keen to take his career to the next level and run his own personal training studio, but lacked the resources and business acumen to do so. He says: 'I saw an advertisement for énergie Personal Fitness and felt investing in a personal training studio franchise was the best way forward. The thought of being my own boss, using a tried and tested business model and becoming part of a nationally recognised brand with access to ongoing training and support was very appealing.

'I felt this opportunity had real growth potential and would enable me to fulfil my ambition of becoming a multiple studio owner. By filling in the gaps in your business knowledge, énergie Personal Fitness eliminates the fear factor of starting up a business on your own.

'The support has been fantastic. So far, énergie has helped me find a location, negotiate a lease, apply for planning permission to convert an existing club into a personal training studio and secure bank funding. At the moment énergie is helping me look for new recruits so that by the time I launch my studio in November I will have a team of trained staff onboard.'

In terms of training, Imran has completed a management-training course, which includes a distance learning module and a three-day residential module and is due to go on a fitness product training course before the launch of his studio in St John's Wood, North London.

Imran enthuses: 'I am looking forward to my future as a personal fitness studio owner especially having the stability of a regular income once the business is established. In my first year I intend to take a hands-on role training both staff and clients with the aim of making a net profit of £30,000. Long-term, my goal is to become a multiple studio owner, with my staff looking after the day-to-day running of the studios, allowing me to focus on developing the brand throughout my territory.'
