Esquires’ franchisees are set to benefit from this takeover as Cooks aims to promote the community-focused coffee franchise as the world’s leading Fair-trade organic coffee retailer. The corporation has also announced a six-fold increase in the number of units it plans to operate worldwide. There are plans to take the global network to 400 units by 2020.

Speaking about the acquisition, UK Managing Director, Peter Kirton said: “Esquires Coffee Houses is an extremely successful business and now, as part of Cooks Global Foods with its highly motivated board, we will be assisted to continue to deliver ambitious and innovative expansion plan. We’re extremely excited to see what lies ahead.”

Cooks Chairman, Keith Jackson, added: “Completing these transactions is a significant milestone and we now have a strong platform from which to pursue growth. We have further potential acquisitions identified which we will now pursue with the expertise of our new Board and executive team.”
