Mr Martin was made redundant in 2006 and was unsure what the future would hold for him and his family. He decided to take the bull by the horns and invest his redundancy payout into a FiltaFry Plus franchise in Norfolk.

Damian Slater, Franchise Manager at The Filta Group said: “Dean came to us in 2006 very unsure of what the future held for him. He was quiet, unsure of himself and of his abilities at the time – he was not really sure if he actually had the attributes and qualities one thinks they need to run their own business.

“We are very aware at The Filta Group that people from all types of backgrounds come with completely different skillsets – where a franchise owner may excel in one particular area they may lack in another.“We have a saying here, that ‘business is not complicated, people make business complicated’– that’s where things start to go wrong for people, especially if they are new to running their own business.”

Mr Martin worked hard and is now enjoying the rewards. Mr Slater added: “Dean’s success has come about because he followed the system, which is now in its 17th year of operation. He has worked hard for the last seven years, ensuring he puts the hours in and making sure he has built sound and solid relationships with his customers.”

Mr Martin is the first to admit that he has not even begun to scratch the surface of potential clients in his territory and is now planning how to fill both vans to maximum capacity, with the continued help and guidance he receives from The Filta Group head office.
