Home Instead scoops top award
Home Instead Senior Care has won the title of Barclays Startups Business of the Year, taking home £5,000, and Team of the Year at the Startups Awards.
The company, which provides care and assistance to older people allowing them to remain living in their own home as long as possible, currently has 25 franchised offices across the UK providing more than 1,000 hours of care per day, 365 days a year.Home Instead Senior Care founder Trevor Brocklebank said: 'This is a fantastic endorsement of what we have achieved so far. The business came about as a result of my grandfather's illness as we felt that there was a lack of quality care available for him. What we want to do is change the face of ageing in the UK.'
The awards ceremony was organised by startups.co.uk and took place at the Royal Gardens Hotel, Kensington. David Lester, founder of startups.co.uk, said: 'Our winners are the business leaders of tomorrow but the driver's of today's economy. It's essential we recognise their efforts and the success that they have achieved regardless of tough economic conditions. That's what the Startups Awards and today's winners are all about.'
