Q: Why have you introduced the Flexible Franchise now?

A: The reduction in available finance from the banking community has driven down bank lending ratios for new businesses. Coupled with the downwards pressure on house prices, which is reducing available equity on which to secure loans, traditional management franchises are now becoming unaffordable for people who still have all the right qualifies to make a successful franchisee - determination, commitment and a strong work ethic. We are determined to continue to help people with the right skills and motivation to realise their ambition to start their own business. Therefore, we have moved swiftly to develop a new product which responds to the current market conditions.

Q: How does the Flexible Franchise work?

A: Effectively, we are giving people the chance to buy the level of guaranteed sales they can afford because we can adapt this product to suit an individual's financial requirements. We expect it to interest people who are motivated, self starters and may have a commercial or sales background. These will be people who want to build a business within a proven structure, but who are not looking for the same level of guaranteed sales which our standard minimum product offers.

Q: Do investors in the new Flexible Franchise still get management support from Jani King?

A: New entrants in the Flexible Franchise programme will have full access to all the industry-recognised Jani-King training and support programmes as they build their new business.

Q: Is contract cleaning recession proof? A: Contract cleaning is an extremely resilient industry in times of economic downturn. The Jani-King franchise is highly attractive in such environments because it can be operated on very low overheads and is a cost-variable format. Historically, we have always seen an upturn in demand for our franchises in times of economic pressure because of the robustness of the cleaning industry.
