Garden maintenance franchise Jim's Mowing newest franchise owner has launched his business in Ashby-da-la-Zouch in Leicestershire. Franchise owner Gary Pagett previously worked as a computer analyst for over 20 years, however tired of working for other people, he decided to launch a Jim's Mowing business.

Gary said: 'I was fed-up of working within a company structure and I wanted to take control of my life rather than have it run for me so I looked into potential franchises. Jim's has enabled me to earn more money and spend precious time with my two children and family. In previous jobs I also had to worry about the threat of redundancy and sharing my entrepreneurial aspirations with my boss. Now I don't need to worry about the risk of redundancy and for the first time in my career I feel I have the freedom to regain complete control of my life.'

After finding out about Jim's Mowing on the internet Gary contacted the head office team, who arranged a meeting and an initial three day training course. Gary commented: 'I have always had a keen interest in the garden and was always at the beck and call of friends and family for any gardening needs. I was enthused about the training course and really excited by the prospect of learning how to run my own business.'

The training provided Gary with all the information he required to successfully run a Jim's Mowing franchise including health and safety practices, quoting for jobs, generating new business leads and how to receive work from Jim's 'cutting edge' computerised job scheduling system. Gary was able to undertake the training before he made the final decision to become a franchise owner so he could be sure he was making the right career decision.

Gary added: 'The support I received from Jim's was fantastic. The training is great and there is always constant support on offer from the Jim's Mowing head office as well as the other Jim's around the UK. I have changed my career completely from working with computers to being outside every day providing landscaping and gardening services to my local community. I now have my own business but I still have the confidence of knowing I have the support of an international company behind me.'
