Franchise Expo South heats up Miami Beach
Miami Beach-based Franchise Expo South (FES) is the newest addition to the MFV exhibition family and is already celebrating a similar success to its cousin, the West Coast Franchise Expo in Los Angeles
This year's three-day event was held at the Miami Beach Convention Centre and attracted thousands of prospective franchisees from the Caribbean, across the USA to South America.
What has made FES successful in its second year is its promise of high quality leads and qualified diverse attendees for franchisors. For CEO of Forcefield Hurricane Protection Systems Harris Bowers, the large number of qualified prospects was a major attraction to the event. 'I was very excited about the number of qualified prospects I spoke to at the expo,' he says. 'I've met a lot of people interested in the company's concept and am thrilled about that. Franchise Expo South has been a great show for the company. These future franchisees ask the right questions and want to know what it takes to be part of a successful concept.'
Where FES is situated means it mainly caters for the third largest franchised business state in the US, Florida. However, FES also seems to attract the rapidly growing and influential Latin market, so for franchisors looking to expand in South and Central America, FES is the ideal venue to showcase their ideas.
Arby's Director of Franchise Development David Leonardo explains: 'The main reason Arby's chose to exhibit at FES is because the company intends to continue the expansion of the brand into the Southeast.'
Virtual assistant franchise Cybertary also chose to exhibit at FES because of its intentions to develop and expand into the southeastern market. President Patricia Beckman says: 'As a new franchisor, people are not necessarily familiar with Cybertary's concept. So the opportunity to get in front of prospective franchisees and create brand recognition has been invaluable.'
In addition to bringing in exhibition attendees from outside the United States, FES gives exhibitors an opportunity to meet potential franchisees face to face. 'It's important to be at an exhibition like FES because we need a presence at events like this to market our brand,' explains David Leonardo. 'Many prospective franchisees may not see Arby's recruiting efforts in newspaper and magazine advertising, so Arby's also exhibits in order to meet the best prospects.'
With nearly two decades of experience producing tradeshows, MFV and the International Franchise Association work to give each exhibitor and attendee the dedication and commitment necessary for a quality show. President of MFV Exhibitions Thomas Portesy says: 'It is gratifying as the show producer to know that exhibitors feel like they have had a great weekend, meeting prospective franchisees and sharing their concepts with thousands of entrepreneurs.
'I have had good feedback and some franchisors like Arby's have asked to exhibit at the third FES scheduled for 9th January 2009. It is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire staff at MFV, our show staff and so many of our great people that put it all together back at our offices in New Jersey.'
