A golden year for Sandra's MOLLY MAID franchise
MOLLY MAID franchise owner Sandra Redmond has been enjoying the benefits of winning the bfa (British Franchise Association) Franchisee of The Year Gold Award 2009.
Since joining MOLLY MAID IN 1995, mother-of-one Sandra Redmond has discovered the brand has been the perfect franchise opportunity for her to combine her business ambitions with being a mum.
"When I joined MOLLY MAID my daughter was eight years old and my view at the time was that I wanted a job that gave me the flexibility to fit in with looking after her as my husband was also in a highly demanding job," explains Sandra.
"I had decided to leave my job in sales and marketing as the role involved too much travelling and I knew I wanted a management franchise. I was very lucky that a friend of mine rang to say she wanted to sell her Wimbledon-based MOLLY MAID business and would I be interested in buying it.
I liked the thought of becoming my own boss, running my own business and implementing my own ideas with the ongoing support of an established brand, so after two weeks of in-depth research I decided to invest."
Sandra has found being the reigning bfa Franchisee of the Year Gold Award winner an "amazing" experience but also has its own responsibilities.
"I feel I have an obligation to live up to that title but winning the award has given a gloss to how we feel about the business and how MOLLY MAID is perceived," she says.
"I have 45 staff and my turnover has increased from £190,000 when I started to £580,000. Although my territory is as large as it can get, there are other elements of my business I can now look at improving further and make as streamlined as possible."
Becoming bfa Franchisee of the Year is not the only accolade Sandra has received within the past year: "In 2009 I also qualified for the MOLLY MAID travel incentive and my hard work was rewarded with a fantastic holiday in Antigua with six other qualifying MOLLY MAID franchise owners and their partners." It is touches like the holidays which Sandra says have helped make the whole MOLLY MAID set up feel like one big family.
"You really feel that not only do they want you to succeed but that they do genuinely care," adds Sandra. "I would definitely recommend a MOLLY MAID franchise to other women because it really does give you complete control of your work/life balance."
