Glasgow prepares for franchise expo
Scotland will play host to a wide range of franchise opportunities when The British Franchise Exhibition takes place at the SECC in Glasgow on 2nd and 3rd June 2006
The British Franchise Exhibition will feature many well-known companies offering a wide variety of business opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. The event, incorporating the Growing Your Own Business Showcase & Conference, also forms the focal point of Scottish Franchise Week, organised by The British Franchise Association (bfa). Scottish Franchise Week has been established to promote sustainable business in Scotland and includes a number of seminars and networking opportunities throughout the week, culminating in the expo in Glasgow.
The event, which is sponsored by the bfa, the Daily Mail, Business Franchise and Franchise World, is the ideal place for entrepreneurs to find out all there is to know about franchising and running their own businesses. Visitors to the show will be able to meet with a wide range of well-established franchised companies and assess the benefits of running their own business as part of an established franchise brand. Visitors can also meet existing franchisees to gain a clear insight into the reality of working with a particular franchisor and its business.
With over 50 exhibitors present, well-known franchise companies confirmed include*; Antal International, Car Medic, Cartridge World UK, Cash Generator, Kumon Education, Little Impressions, MinuteMan Press, Myhome, Signs Express and Snap-on tools.
All exhibitors present at the exhibition are accredited by the bfa and thus adhere to the bfa's code of conduct, which ensures all opportunities on show can be determined as ethical and viable.
In addition, there will be experts from the bfa, bankers, accountants and solicitors to discuss every key issue from raising finance to legal contracts.
Not to be missed is a series of highly informative free seminars, run by the bfa across both days of the event.

11.15am & 3.45pm Friday and 10.15am & 2.30pm Saturday - 'An introduction to franchising' - for prospective franchisees
This free seminar is for aspiring business owners new to the franchising concept. It will address issues including: the benefits of franchising versus other business formats; what the franchisor looks for in a franchisee; what a franchisee should look for in a franchisor; the size and the expected growth in the franchise market; the initial choice of franchise; the business plan; and the finance and how to get it.
1.30pm Friday & 12.30pm Saturday - 'How to franchise your business' - for prospective franchisors
The free hour-long seminar consists of a short introduction to franchising as a means of expanding an existing business or developing a new venture.
The Growing Your Own Business Showcase & Conference
The Growing Your Own Business Showcase features companies that offer small business advice and can help established businesses to develop and grow. The showcase will be supported by a free conference with seminars providing practical advice and information on all aspects of growing a business. Speakers include leading advisors, consultants and successful entrepreneurs who will provide case studies and success stories. One of which will be Glaswegian entrepreneur and strategic marketer David Hood, Chair of CIMTech, who will be presenting a special seminar on marketing a business on a small budget.
Visitors will also be able to take part in a series of speed networking sessions run by Bacon & Eggs Entrepreneurs whose aim is to develop a network for business people that provides them with the maximum number of opportunities available to develop and grow their businesses through meeting each other.
The British Franchise Exhibition and Growing Your Own Business Showcase & Conference are open from 10am each day, closing at 5pm on Friday 2nd June and 4pm on Saturday 3rd June
