The National Franchise Exhibition 4 & 5 October 2013
Aspiring franchisees, travelling from all over the UK and abroad to the UK’s largest franchise event, will not be disappointed, judging by the views of Kerry Kimber, who made the journey from Edinburgh last year to the exhibition. Louise Smith reports
The renowned National Franchise Exhibition, taking place on October 4 and 5, at Birmingham’s NEC, features a vast range of businesses from across the UK and overseas, showcasing their franchise packages to thousands of potential entrepreneurs. Together with the comprehensive conference and seminars programme and features, the event continues to be the most valuable opportunity for those wanting to find out more about a career in franchising.
The exhibition features companies from a wide spectrum of sectors, including travel, property, food and drink, homecare and finance. Some of the many major names offering franchise opportunities include Belvoir Lettings, McDonald’s, Just Shutters, Safeclean, Southern Fried Chicken, Anytime Fitness, Top Gear, Rosemary Bookkeeping and many others.
Visitors can discuss prospects with exhibitors, as well as learn more from the seminars that take place throughout both days. The extensive conference programme includes talks from various experts on topics ranging from a beginner’s guide, to making a high-level investment, to growing your own business.
Jon Eley from Derby, a logistics supervisor in the healthcare industry, came to The National Franchise Exhibition in 2012 and commented: “I’m taking my first steps into franchising and have found the seminars very informative. Speaking to franchisees has been valuable in gaining a real picture of their businesses.”
There are also areas of the exhibition dedicated to other important business matters, including finance, careers and legal advice.
The Finance Clinic is there to aid anyone who needs an extra hand in getting to grips with their all important business plan and applying for finance. Those who bring a draft of their plan will be able to get feedback from the experts; bringing them one step closer to getting a business loan.
Real Franchise Stories is also sure to be popular at the event this year, providing a unique chance to hear current franchise owners explain how they got to where they are, and to learn from their own personal experiences. This is a huge opportunity to gain an insight into what it is really like to be part of a franchise business – including anecdotes, advice and ‘do’s and don’t’s’ from the people who have been in that situation themselves.
An exclusive area has been set up for those with a large amount to invest. The High Level Investment VIP Lounge is available to those who want to discuss the opportunities available to them in a more private and comfortable setting.
The Franchise Resales Pavilion is a feature where budding entrepreneurs can learn about the benefits of buying an existing franchise business and enquire about resales with the companies exhibiting at the event. The Franchise Starting Point also offers free one to one advice from experts, covering all bases when starting out – consultants, lawyers, bankers and franchisors are all on-hand ready and waiting.
Visitors with children will be well catered for at the free Children’s Activity Centre, hosted by The Creation Station. Children, along with a family member are able to test out the franchise’s offering with a variety of imaginative arts and crafts, whilst others in the group explore the valuable business opportunities at the exhibition.
There is no better and more comprehensive place to meet franchisors face to face and compare different business opportunities, as well as gain advice on all aspects of setting up a business – all under one roof.
The National Franchise Exhibition is supported by the British Franchise Association (bfa), meaning visitors can be reassured in knowing that everything available to them at the exhibition has passed a code of ethics.
Admission on the door is £15, however visitors can gain FREE entry by using the promotional code TFMPRE when pre-registering - please register your interest below.
