Ovenclean gives Owen a warm glow

After spending 15 years working in the highway construction and maintenance industry, Owen Rowlands was given notice of possible redundancy. He didn’t want to try and start again in the same role elsewhere, so decided “it was time for a change” with Ovenclean, the UK’s leading domestic oven cleaning franchise, earlier this year.

Having attended one of Ovenclean’s free find-out-more open days, where he spoke to existing franchisees and met the support and management team, Owen decided to invest in an Ovenclean franchise and started his training a few weeks later. “Frankly, I was really impressed,” says Owen. “My training included two weeks shadowing an experienced Ovenclean franchisee, Ian Fidge.

“Initially I wondered how it could possibly take two whole weeks to learn how to clean an oven, but by the end of the training I realised just how much there is to it – not only the cleaning, but in running your business. Ian was great, he was – and still is – always happy to offer advice whenever I need it. When you launch your Ovenclean franchise, you really do get all the support you need and more.”

As part of his launch programme, over 15,000 leaflets were distributed across Owen’s territory, generating an initial two months work.He adds: “Joining Ovenclean was definitely the right decision for me. After only a few months, I’m earning the same as in my previous role. I have my independence and instead of being tolerated at best by the public, now I’m invited into their homes to do a job they actually want me to do. I feel thoroughly appreciated and I’m happier in my work than I’ve ever been.”
