New look Ovenclean is hot, hot, hot!
From welding steel to cleaning ovens, Steve McClean has improved his income and his work/life balance with his Ovenclean franchise
For a really hot franchise opportunity, look no further than the newly relaunched Ovenclean, whose franchisees are already feeling the benefits of a fresh brand image, an enhanced product range and a new marketing initiative, as Ovenclean franchise owner Steve McClean confirms: 'I've been working non-stop since mid-November - and January was my busiest yet!'
Steve is never short of work and finds that demand for his services peak at particular times of the year. At present he is gearing up for the festivals of Easter and Passover, both of which signal family feasting and an urgent requirement to have the oven in pristine condition!
After three and a half years as an Ovenclean franchisee, Steve has an established base of loyal customers who use him regularly and have recommended him to their families and friends, but he is keen to continue to build his business and feels that currently he's only serving a fraction of his potential customers. 'Everyone is a potential customer,' he explains. 'I regularly drop leaflets house-to-house and invariably the phone starts ringing after that, bringing in more new customers. Really, it's a case of getting your name known and letting people know that an oven cleaning service is available. Once word spreads, you're pretty well bound to be busy.'
Steve joined Ovenclean after 30 years in the steel fabrication and welding industry. He was fed up with working in a dirty industrial environment and felt undervalued and underpaid. When he started to look at franchise opportunities, Ovenclean quickly caught his eye. 'I know it's a far cry from the steel game,' he grins, 'but I could see it was an up and coming franchise. It seemed easy to learn and offered the potential to make decent money quite quickly - the training was a matter of a few weeks, compared to the four year apprenticeship I had to serve before being fully qualified to operate as a fabricator and welder. I thought it was great that I could be up and running so soon.'
Despite his long apprenticeship and extensive experience, Steve was never able to earn the same income that he has already achieved with Ovenclean and says that being a franchisee has brought many other benefits too. 'I really like the fact that I'm out and about working in different places for different people every day,' he says. 'I'm a friendly, talkative type of person and enjoy a joke with my customers, my working environment is much nicer now and although I work hard, I can juggle my hours around family commitments - I'm certainly better off than before in every sense!'
Ovenclean provides specialist oven cleaning services to a large, virtually untapped marketplace.
