Ovenclean is hot hot hot!
We speak to one of Ovenclean’s most successful franchise owners; Ian Fidge and his wife Shirley tell us their success story
Franchise owner Ian Fidge is hot stuff right now, as people just can’t get enough of his oven cleaning services. Demand for Ian’s business has been so high since he launched his Ovenclean franchise three years ago, that his wife has since joined him in the business to help with his rocketing workload. Shirley, who previously worked as a data administrator in a school, has no regrets about her decision: “I love going out in the van with Ian. Admittedly it’s not great for my nails, but this has a long-term future and means that we reap all the benefits from the hard work we put in.”
As a former management consultant, Ian initially considered business-to-business franchises that were compatible with his previous experience, but he was particularly attracted to Ovenclean once he saw what the franchise had to offer.
“In the first instance, I looked at business-to-business franchises as they more obviously matched with my background.” He explains: “All too often they seemed overly complex and sometimes I couldn’t even see how I was meant to make money!
“By contrast, Ovenclean offered a straightforward business model and a strong, well-recognised brand name; it seemed to have the best package, the best products and a huge potential marketplace. I could easily understand how I could make good money from doing a job like that as so many people hate to do themselves.”
After his launch, Ian was booked for three weeks solid and demand has continued to increase. Now, well into his third year, he is busier than ever and hasn’t looked back.
“I’m surprised by just how successful I have been in such a short period of time. My workload has increased dramatically and I have recently expanded into new postcode areas. I really haven’t looked back!”
“I can’t praise the franchise highly enough,” Ian enthuses. “I’ve had terrific support from the management team and I’m incredibly busy – thanks in part to the high number of leads coming through from Ovenclean’s head office, which have been generated by the company’s national marketing activity. In short, I have to say I’m delighted!”
What’s more, Ian is now enjoying an improved lifestyle with more flexibility, a good income and most importantly gets to spend more time at home with his family.
“You have to be a ‘people person’ to succeed,” Ian points out. “You need good customer service and communication skills; there are lots of advantages to an Ovenclean franchise, and providing you’re prepared to work at it there’s a really good living to be made!”
