Ovenclean: taking the plunge
Chris Hudson’s mother has always been a fan of the Ovenclean service – regularly using it to keep her oven in tip-top condition, but it was during a family holiday in Florida last year when news of potential redundancy came through, that Chris started thinking it might just be the perfect opportunity for him to start his next career chapter.
Although the redundancy did not go through, Chris had always been interested in growing his own business and liked the idea of the franchising route – with support from head office and the backing of a recognised, professional brand name – and so took the opportunity to attend an Open Day at the midlands-based head office.
“With my Dad’s help to finance it, I took the plunge and couldn’t be happier that I did! The training was excellent and I’m up to about three to four cleans per day after just a couple of months, following a very successful launch,” Chris explains.
“I love the customer-facing aspect of my work, and seeing the look on people’s faces when I finish gives me huge job-satisfaction. I also get lots of recommendations from happy customers, which account for the majority of my new business leads.”
Ovenclean is one of the longest-established domestic oven cleaning franchise in the UK, providing specialist oven cleaning services to a large, virtually untapped marketplace, including domestic customers and commercial work like schools, lettings agencies and hotels.
Franchise owners operate from professionally liveried vans, benefitting from low overheads and high flexibility. The top quality, powerful, yet safe Ovenclean product range, exclusive to franchise owners, effectively cleans ovens and hobs, Agas, ranges and barbecues, swiftly restoring them to pristine condition.
“It is a big step to move from employment with the security of a regular paycheck, to being your own boss,” concludes Chris, “but I now have control of my diary, and with my wedding to look forward to in August, I can easily plan around my needs without having to ask permission for time off months in advance. My only regret is not doing it sooner!”
