Papa John's wins award in recognition of online growth

Pizza chain franchise Papa John's has won the Marketing Society Achievement Award (SME). Papa John's received the award at a ceremony in London in recognition of its online growth, which saw its web-based sales increase by over 500 per cent in 12 months, meaning that 20 per cent of the company's transactions are now handled this way.

'The Marketing Society Awards are amongst the most respected around and you only had to look at the list of nominees to see how seriously some of the world's biggest firms take them,' says Jean Michel Fabre, Marketing Director of Papa John's. 'We believe that we could stand out in that company because our online progress had been so significant, and had been a key driver in what was and is continuing to be a great period for Papa John's.

'As a challenger brand we have been able to raise the bar for the industry and lead the market online in terms of sales percentage, so it was great to see that recognised by a collection of Britain's leading marketers. Our CEO recently came over from the US and was very clear about Papa John's making giant strides in the UK market over the next few years, and awards like this underline that belief.'

Founded in the US in 1983 Papa John's is expanding its franchise across the UK and aims to open 250 stores within five years.
