To strengthen its franchise recruitment drive Papa John’s has employed two new people for key head office positions.
John West (pictured right, top), a former Director of Franchising and Strategic Development at Burger King, has been appointed to the role of Director of Franchise Development and Property for the UK and Europe. Meanwhile, David Galvin (pictured right, bottom) has joined the company as Franchise Sales Manager, coming from Jiffy Packaging.
West and Galvin have come to Papa John’s following 20 successive quarters of comparative sales growth for the company, which has grown by 50 per cent over the last three years in terms of store numbers. There are currently more than 150 outlets of the pizza delivery chain across the UK, and the company recently opened a £5 million state-of-the-art dough plant in Milton Keynes, which can supply more than 400 stores.
John West said: “I’m aiming to grow our franchise owner base over the coming 18 months with a plan to get to 200 trading units. Already we’re seeing a shift in mentality from those who only want a job, to ambitious entrepreneurs who want to run multiple stores and establish an empire -these are exactly the type of people we’re keen to recruit.
“Unlike many of our competitors, our expansion plans at Papa John’s allow people to select areas where there is potential for this type of growth, providing them with a platform for success. Our development and training programme provides new franchise owners with all the backup and support needed to become successful, without necessarily having had any previous experience in the food industry.”
David Galvin added: “I’ve been enjoying working with John to recruit ambitious franchise owners to open multiple Papa John’s stores across the UK, so they can share in our success as their portfolio expands. In particular we are looking to strengthen our presence in Scotland, North West England, South Wales and South Central England. I am continuing to run a number of regional open days across the UK throughout 2011, and would welcome any interested parties who would like to come along for an informal chat.” ?
